We have really stepped up the pace here at MnWorks.
We have visited over 5 states in the last 30 days talking with employers, agencies and people seeking employment.
As you know MnWorks has been setup to not charge employers or job seekers fees for publishing or searching for work.
We use volenteers to help with proof reading, job posting reviews as well as experience posting. The last 4 weeks we have found our staff didn't have the time to keep up with the growth. Visiting the job sites along the coast for the BP Oil Spill Clean really took more but what it has done for us might help those that want to get back to work.
We will be posting the different hiring companies that are on the BP approved vendors list. We also are looking for placement agencies in the states that are affected by the BP Oil Spill to sign up and post jobs.
We noticed during our travels that large labor related companies are filling most of the positions. Because these larger agencies try to hire locally first they have found resources are running out. What this means for all is there are positions (hundreds) that qualify for Per Diem and Mileage. This could be an opportunity for many to relocate into the areas of where the Oil is coming ashore and get paid to help in the cleanup process.
